The first EZLTH meeting on 5 December 1953 following the LTTH and EZLTH merger with the Minister of N. Greece taking the Chair and leading the discussion. Election of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, determining the length of term of office, berthing of merchant ships to the touristic coast to be resolved promptly. During the second meeting the election of the members of the Executive Committee took place, the official stamp of the new organization was established, unification of respective or related departments and divisions, possibility of 2 Budgets running simultaneously temporarily, and a variety of other urgent administrative issues to be resolved rapidly, mostly of legal and banking nature. Repair of the pier at Peraia, N. Epivates and Ag. Triada, delivery of 8,091 penicillin vials to the N. Greece Administration Office, acceptance of the 1952-53 Financial Report and Balance of 30 June 1953, pressing need of reviewing the Transport and Storage Fees, reconstruction of railway and refrigeration systems, financial distress due to currency devaluation, temporary assignement of the General Director Substitute duties to Vice-Chairman Mr. Sakaris, determining the domain-responsibilities/authority of the Executive Committee, financial support of the earthquake victims in the Ionian islands, paving the piers with cube-shaped rocks, assembly and installation of electric cranes, buying insurance for transport vehicles, official audit of the 2 merged organizations, temporarily maintaining the financial system of EZT. Discussion (7/1/1954) about the urgent need to appoint a General Director, presiding the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Konstantinos Karamanlis, integration of existing personnel, competition by the Serbian and emerging Yugoslavic Zone. Following Mr. Nik. Stavropoulos and Mr. Apostolos Aidonas running for the Gen Director Office, the latter was elected. Rebuilding the Stables that had been bombed, special efforts for cleansing to maintain Public Health, approval for deploying underwater pipe of S.A. Petrolium Oil Compaly BP LTD, official acceptance of the Agreement signed by the French-Greek Company (managing the port till the agreement) and LTTH, exemption for the Macedonian Studies Company from paying storage fees for 518 Byzantine Monument items from the Kastoria region, discussion about the immediate necessity of building a SILOS tower, legal claims by ERTHA company concerning alleged use of machinery, request by the Maritime Agents Association for dredging the central dock due to berthing difficulties, budget reformation-credit increase, formation of Staff Council-responsibilities of (ex) LTTH, new prices Protocols, contract works Comparative Tables, recruitments of staff-dismissals-retirements, swearing in ceremony for the inauguration of Gen. Director Apostolos Aidonas (16/2/1954), public procurements for insurance of naval and other property in general, for petrol, machine oils, gas, stationery and other supplies, urgent need of reviewing Tariff List and general cost, reinforcing Budget Chapters and Articles from Regular Reserve, Customs Division request for fencing the area to decrease smuggling, moving sailing boats from Vas. Konstantinou seafront boulevard, M. Pyliaros election as the new Vice Chairman, unanimous decision for a thanking telegram to K. Karamanlis for financial support, request from the International Trade Fair for granting use of crane for 2 months, "K. Goutas" crane operation problems due to lack of spare parts-urgent procurement from abroad, payment of 2nd installment to the FRENCH-HELLENIC EXPLOITATION COMPANY OF THE PORT OF THESSALONIKI, detailed discussion regarding the integrated plan for the New Organization on consecutive meetings on 2/6, 4/6, 11/6, 18/6 and 21/6/1954, reading and approval of the New EZLTH Organization Services Sections by individual article and overall in 12 Artiles and Transitional Ordinances, arrival announcement of the first tourist ocean liner on 21/6/1954, approval of 2nd expansion project of the coastal boulevard to the M. Botsari stream, access to employees of up to 5 National Loan Bonds payable in installments, modifications of EZLTH borders, telegram from Mr. Levantis, Minister of Public Works, announcing meeting regarding SILOS on 5/7/1954, determining the borders of the establishment area, portable pylon, and ownership issues (mostly of exporting nature due to wheat sufficiency!), setting the machinery lease rates, proposal for self owned barges.
